AT PDE 2022, there will be lectures, panel discussions, presentations, creative workshops, work-in-progress presentations and knowledge sharing.
This weekend, the Performance Design Exchange (PDE) organised by the Theatre Faculty of ASWARA, takes place and there’s so much to see and do. The event will gather designers, academics, performing arts groups, and students, who are interested to explore the design element for performing arts; and provide a platform for knowledge sharing between academics and practitioners, both professionals and amateurs.
There will be lectures, panel discussions, presentations, creative workshops, work-in-progress presentations and knowledge sharing.
This year’s PDE features invited artists from the local arts scene such as Raja Malik, Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Arif Waran, Ridhwan Saidi, Akma Suriati, Hamzah Tahir, Suzy Sulaiman, Wong Tay Sy, Fairuz Sulaiman, Bryan Chang, Sheikh Abd Nasser, Lau Beh Chin, Loh Kok Man, Syamsul Azhar, Nur Afifi, Mark Teh, June Tan, Hafiz Hamzah and Zul Hezan.
The theme for this year is Designing Malaysia, through which the organisers aim to dissect, discuss and question the identity of Malaysian designs for the performing arts. The programme also pays tribute to the late Azizul Zahid Jamal who was a great lighting designer, scenographer and part of Aswara’s Theatre Faculty family.
