1000 Tiny Artworks, 100 artists, take two

The Back Room gallery and Studio Red Hong Yi are teaming up again to present the second edition of their hit art exhibition, '1000 Tiny Artworks'.

Taking place over one weekend only (December 1 to 3, 2023), 1000 Tiny Artworks brings back a fresh roster of 100 artists, each presenting 10 works that measure approximately 10×10 cm.

The exhibition will take place again at The Back Room gallery, located at Unit 80A of The Zhongshan Building arts hub in Kampung Attap, Kuala Lumpur.

The inaugural edition of 1000 Tiny Artworks first took place in December of 2021 and became a massive hit among art enthusiasts and the general public. Its ambitious scale introduced many newcomers to the wonderful diversity of the local art scene, while the exhibited works’ accessible price point allowed many artists’ long-time fans and friends to own their works for the first time ever. The rules remain the same for the second edition.

All of the artworks will be jumbled up together in randomly-arrayed grids around the gallery. All the artworks will be for sale on a first-come, first-served basis, at the fixed price of only RM 100 per work, with all proceeds going to the artists. Added to that is the intriguing factor that all artworks will be presented anonymously — buyers will only be able to discover the identity of the artists behind the works after purchasing, as all artworks will only be signed on the back.

1000 Tiny Artworks aims to showcase local creative talent in a dynamic, fun setting while also promoting art appreciation to a new audience of budding collectors. This December, don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch 100 Malaysian artists all in the same room — and even own a piece of art yourself!
