Marsu comes to the French Festival 2024

As part of the 2024 programme of the French Festival organized by the French Alliance of Kuala Lumpur, Marsu, accompanied by her two musicians, will be performing a mix of her own songs, classical French songs and singing extracts from the famous French show called Les Franglaises.

After her first EP was released in 2019, Marsu is back in 2024 with new sounds in a more pop and rock vein. Catchy melodies, a vocal interpretation that always serves the lyrics, daring musical productions: five singles will be released successively from April to December 2024.

Marie-Suzanne Lacroix aka Marsu is a talented artist: singer, actress and musician. She is the electric blonde in the famous French show called Les Franglaises, which won the Molière for the Best Musical in 2015 and is currently playing at the Bobino Theatre in Paris. As well as performing in the show, she has also been its artistic director since 2019.
In 2018, Marsu worked on a personal musical project, releasing her eponymous debut album on the music label French Goose in early 2019. In this first opus, the artist paints in Technicolor several songs written between 1900 and 1950. Whether forgotten French songs or classics, she lends these songs a more pop and cinematic influence.

In 2019, the album was transformed into a live project. Accompanied by two musicians, Xavier Pourcher and
Alex Deschamps, Marsu gave a series of concerts at the legendary Parisian cabaret Les Trois Baudets. In 2020, the project included the theatre play Ce Soir ou Jamais, directed by Pierre Barayre, as part of the Au fil du Tarn tour, commissioned by the National Stage of Albi City (France).

For this show, specially designed for the French Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Marsu and her two musicians will be
revisiting French classical songs and mixing them. Here are just some of the artists whose repertoires the trio
will be revisiting: Françoise Hardy, Juliette Gréco, France Gall, Gainsbourg, Christophe, Edith Piaf, Aznavour, and more.

With two members of the show Les Franglaises on stage, it would have been a waste to not play the French renditions of some of pop music’s hits! Queen, or rather, Reine’s famous rock hit Don’t Stop Me Now, and Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive in its French incarnation Je Vais Survivre are two such hits you can expect to hear!

The concert will be held at DPAC on 19 June 2024, at 8.30 pm. Follow this link to find out more about the show and purchase tickets starting from RM 50!
