It's a staggering reality that Dunia Motif– a sustainable art movement platform driven by a passion for sustainability and creativity, seeks to change. That's where the Kuala Lumpur Colour District (KLCD) comes into play.

The Kuala Lumpur Colour District (KLCD) project, spearheaded by Dunia Motif, aims to address the issue of food waste in Malaysia through art and community engagement. Inspired by the vibrancy of Kuala Lumpur's markets, particularly the dynamic atmosphere of Chow Kit, KLCD explores the potential of transforming organic waste into natural dyes, thereby reducing the environmental impact of food waste. The choice of Chow Kit as the venue reflects the area's rich cultural tapestry and market life that inspired the project. This location underscores the project's message that art is accessible to all. Through workshops and exhibitions, KLCD aims to raise awareness about the issue of food waste and empower individuals to take action towards building more sustainable communities.

Dunia Motif, founded by Ummi Junid, is a Malaysian-based initiative dedicated to the art of batik and natural dyeing. Established as an online platform, Dunia Motif explores the rich cultural heritage of batik while embracing sustainable practices that protect nature and preserve traditional methods. Through its commitment to slow-crafted processes and kitchen waste dye also promotes an eco-friendly approach to textile art. The platform serves as a hub for education, innovation, and collaboration, aiming to leave a lasting impact by integrating sustainability with artistic expression.
