PLAY SYNOPSIS
“If There is An Afterlife, I Hope It’s Your Version Instead of Mine” is a semi-devised piece by Asyraf Syahir Najib. The play revolves around the story of a religiously-skeptical Malay woman in her early 30s (Sofia, played by Myrra Baity Khan) who is pushed to reexamine her beliefs and confront her nihilistic views on life upon taking care of her religious cancer-stricken mother. The narrative of the play will be framed 3 years after her mother’s death; in which, she is finally forced to process her own experience upon having to witness (and be there for) her childhood friends (Ryan, played by LeoniTunez & Vanessa, played by Alya Amani) who are facing a similar experience with the sudden cancer diagnosis of their (Ryan’s and Vanessa’s) mother (Ma, played by Erie Woo). The play will dominantly explore the themes of death of a loved one, beliefs and faiths, agnostic thoughts, questions of the afterlife, emotional numbness and self-destructive coping mechanisms.

Ticket price: RM45 (flat)
*due to the nature of the performance, we can only accommodate to a maximum of 40 audience per show (strict capacity).

The contents and themes of “If There is An Afterlife, I Hope It’s Your Version instead of Mine” is catered to adults above 18; hence, viewer discretion is advised for those coming with children below 18.

House will be opened to audience 5 minutes before showtime. Kindly be punctual to ensure that the performance will run smoothly. Late entry will not be possible entertained (no refunds).
